The Bourrée from the Lute Suite No. 1 in E minor (BWV 996) is a great example of the enduring nature of Bach’s music. Nearly 100 years after Bach’s death, composer Robert Schumann quoted the opening notes of the Bourrée in his Fugues on B-A-C-H, Op. 60. And, the list of popular musicians who have been inspired by this Bourrée includes Paul McCartney, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin and many others.
A friend introduced me to PROJECT Trio, a group of classically trained musicians who are pushing the envelope and bringing their own interpretations to the works of Bach and other well-known composers.
Enjoy this fresh take on the Bourrée by PROJECT Trio featuring flutist Greg Pattillo, cellist Eric Stephenson and bassist, Peter Seymour.
